Police hunt for bat-wielding attacker

Queensland Police are appealing for information after a 55-year-old man was assaulted by a man armed with a metal baseball bat at Goodna in Ipswich on Sunday.

Police say that between 5pm and 5:30pm, the 55-year-old Redbank Plains man was leaving a licenced premises along Lowe Street when he was confronted by a male stranger carrying a metal baseball bat.

“Following a brief exchange, the armed man assaulted the 55-year-old, striking him multiple times with the bat in the head and arms,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“As a result of the assault, the 55-year-old man sustained significant injuries, including an arm fracture and bleeding on the brain.”

The offender is described as Caucasian, approximately 190cm tall, heavy build, with short brown hair and visible tattoos.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or may have CCTV/dashcam footage of the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
