Police call last drinks for alleged high-end whiskey thief

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a 52-year-old man in relation to a raft of alcohol thefts spanning six months across Melbourne.

It’s alleged the man stole approximately $30,000 worth of high-end whiskey and scotch from bottle shops between December 2021 and July 2022.

The 60 separate thefts took place in 19 different suburbs including Eltham, Malvern East, Parkdale, Endeavour Hill, Rowville, Brighton, Chelsea Heights, Preston, Docklands, Bundoora, Cheltenham, Karingal, Camberwell, Ascot Vale, Chadstone, Richmond, Fawkner, Berwick and South Yarra.

A 52-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested in Bentleigh yesterday.

He has been charged with 60 counts of theft and held over to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
