NSW Police are appealing for public assistance after a puppy died after being found with head injuries in its backyard on the Northern Beaches of Sydney yesterday.

The owner of a six-month-old chocolate Labrador – named Coco – returned to their home in Cobbadah Place, Freshwater, about 3.15pm (Tuesday 1 September), to find the puppy injured and unresponsive in the backyard.

The dog was immediately taken to the local vet; however, sadly she later died.

The incident has now been reported to officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command.

Vet X-rays confirmed the dog had a fractured skull and an investigation into the cause of the puppy’s death is now under investigation.

Anyone with information about the death is urged to call Dee Why Police or crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
