Queensland Police are appealing for public assistance following the robbery of a 63-year-old Pittsworth woman in Newtown yesterday.
Police say their initial investigations indicate that the woman was waiting inside her car at a shopping centre carpark on the corner of Anzac Avenue and James Street at approximately 4.20pm on Wednesday.
“A man reached through the open front passenger-side window and stole her handbag,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“The woman exited her vehicle and confronted the man when she was pushed to the ground.”
She was transported to Toowoomba Hospital with head injuries.
Police say the man left the scene in a silver 2015 Honda HR-V station wagon with Queensland registration 292WAI. The vehicle had been stolen from an Aberdeen Street address in Rangeville on Wednesday, April 5.
Police are appealing for any person who may have witnessed the assault, or who may have relevant CCTV or dash-cam footage, to contact them.
