A woman in her 70s has died after being hit by a car at Lismore this afternoon.
Police say that at around 3.20pm, emergency services were called to Molesworth Street following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car while crossing the road.
“Members of the public, including nearby off-duty medical staff, rendered assistance to the woman prior to NSW Ambulance paramedics arrival,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“She was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with serious injuries, however, she died a short time later. She is yet to be formally identified, but believed to be aged in her 70s.”
The driver, a woman believed to be aged in her 50s, was also taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.
Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing and anyone with information or dashcam vision in the area is urged to come forward.
