A woman in her 60s has died and a second woman has been injured following a pedestrian crash in Sydney’s south west this morning.
Police say that at around 6.20am, emergency services were called to the intersection of Canley Vale Road and Sackville Street at Canley Vale, following reports of a crash involving a 4WD and pedestrians.
“One pedestrian died at the scene; she is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in her 60s,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“A second female pedestrian, also aged in her 60s, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital for treatment of suspected fractures.
“Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene, which is being examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.”
The driver of the 4WD – a 52-year-old woman – was taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing.
