Passing of Hinchinbrook stalwart a tragic loss for community

News of the passing of Doug Ladner has saddened residents of Queensland’s Hinchinbrook Shire, as locals remember his commitment and service to the community.

As an active member of the Hinchinbrook SES up until his retirement, Mr Ladner received a number of awards including Citizen of the Year 1999, Queensland Flood and Cyclone and Citation 2010-2011, Meritorious Clasp and National Clasp, both after 35 years of service, and the State Emergency Services 40 years of Service Award in 2018.

“Mr Ladner was always passionate about giving back to the community and encouraged residents to do their part and make a difference to help others when they needed it the most,” said Hinchinbrook Mayor, Ramon Jayo today.

“Council wishes to pass on our condolences and thoughts to the Ladner family at this time. The Hinchinbrook community will not be the same,” he said.
