Pair charged with theft of $35,000 worth of cosmetics

A man and woman have been arrested and charged with the theft of more than $35,000 worth of cosmetics in a series of alleged thefts from pharmacies across Melbourne.

Manningham Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested the pair following an investigation into the alleged thefts from pharmacies and cosmetic stores dating back to January.

Police allege there were more than 12 incidents of theft where cosmetics or fragrances were stolen from stores from Safety Beach, Doncaster, Lower Plenty, Mornington, Sunbury, Knox, Kew, Watsonia, Chadstone and Williamstown.

“Following an extensive investigation Manningham Crime Investigation Unit arrested the pair in a carpark on Florence Street, Mentone,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

A 40-year-old Rosebud man has been charged with 19 offences including theft and driving offences. A 42-year-old St Albans woman has been charged with 14 offences including theft and driving offences.
