One man dead, two police injured in Murray Valley Hwy crash

A man has died and two Victoria Police officers have been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a collision on the Murray Valley Highway today.

In a statement, Victoria Police said a van and police vehicle had collided on the Murray Valley Highway, at the Stokes Road intersection, at around noon.

“The driver and sole occupant of the van, a yet to be formally identified man, sadly died at the scene,” Police said.

“The two male officers, a first constable and detective sergeant, have been airlifted to a Melbourne hospital with serious injuries.

“At this early stage there is nothing to indicate the officers were in pursuit of the vehicle, it is believed they were on patrol as part of their duties.”
