Nominations extended for age-friendly awards

Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has extended its nomination closure date for the 2022 Delys Sargeant Age-Friendly Awards.

The awards recognise a local initiative, club, business, service or person of any age who contributes to building a stronger local community for older people who live, work or visit the Mornington Peninsula.

Nominations for the awards will now close on Friday 14 October.

“Each year these awards recognise local initiatives, clubs, businesses or people who contribute to building an age-friendly community. We’re excited to see who will be nominated this year!” said Mayor, Anthony Marsh.

“Nominations are welcome from all members of the community including friends, families and carers who want to nominate persons or organisations who actively demonstrate attitudes and actions which encourage our age-friendly values. Organisations, and clubs are also encouraged to make nominations.”

Nomination categories include:

  • Senior Achiever Award
Do you know a person aged 50+ who has made a significant contribution to our local community? One special person will also be awarded Mayor’s Elder of the Year Award.

  • PACE Community Award
Does your local community organisation or club offer an innovative and age-friendly program? Do you work with someone who encourages diversity and inclusive opportunities? Perhaps a local business goes over and above to help you? Let us know about them!

  • Intergenerational Award
We can all learn from each other at any age so nominate your favourite service, group, business, or person who has brought people of all ages together.

“By nominating someone special for our Delys Sargeant Age-Friendly awards you’re contributing to promoting better opportunities, support and inclusion for older members of our community,” said Peninsula Advisory Committee for Elders (PACE) delegate and Seawinds Ward Councillor, Debra Mar.
