Standing together to commemorate the sacrifice of those who have defended our values and freedoms, Murray River Council residents will honour the nation’s most revered servicemen and women this weekend.
Residents are encouraged to attend one of the many dawn and morning services across the area for Anzac Day on Sunday, April 25.
Murray River Council Mayor, Chris Bilkey said Murray River Council will pay tribute to the sacrifices of service men and women past and present.
“Anzac Day is one of Australia’s most important national occasions where we remember the resilience and heroism of our soldiers.”
“I encourage residents in the region to come together to honour those who have fought for our county and the contributions they have made to shaping the identity of our proud and prosperous nation,” he said.
Commemorative services will be held across the Council at dawn – the time of the original landing – while later in the morning, former servicemen and women and proud community members will meet to take part in marches through some of the towns.
“As we acknowledge and commemorate these significant times in our history, we are proud to join RSL groups, community organisations and our residents this Sunday to honour the service and sacrifice of our original ANZACs, and the generations of Australian servicemen and women,” Mayor Bilkey said.
