Man’s body found in campervan

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man’s body was discovered in the state’s New England region yesterday.

Officers were called to a rest area near Goonoo Goonoo Station on the New England Highway following reports of a concern for welfare around noon on Monday.

“Upon arrival, police located the body a man who is yet to be formally identified, but, is believed to be aged 55, inside a campervan, parked at the location,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Officers also observed drawers within the van were open and a generator previously been seen at the site was missing.

“While it’s not known if the man’s death is suspicious, detectives have established an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

Police are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage taken in the area or who may have seen the vehicle at the rest stop to contact police.

Inquiries are continuing. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
