Warwick police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man they say headbutted a police officer yesterday.
Police say that at around 2.30pm, 28-year-old Stanthorpe man, Clayton Alvoen (pictured), was being escorted by an officer from court when he allegedly headbutted the officer before fleeing on foot.
“Police immediately conducted extensive patrols but failed to locate the man with officers believing he may have been driven away from the scene by associates,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“Investigations have continued overnight and this morning with known associates and haunts for the man, with police appealing to the man, or anyone with him, to immediately contact them.”
The man had been before the court on drug, assault, bail and domestic violence related charges.
“Police have taken all necessary action in relation to those involved in the D&FV matters,” Queensland Police said.
The man is described as having a fair complexion, approximately 180cms tall with a slim build, black hair and brown eyes.
The injured officer received treatment at the local hospital for a facial laceration, police said.
Anyone with information in relation to the man’s whereabouts is urged to immediately contact police.
