A man aged in his 40s has been killed after being by a bus at an intersection in South Brisbane late last night.
Police said the CityGlider bus was travelling on Melbourne Street at Cordelia Street around 11.30pm on Friday when it crashed into the pedestrian.
The man died at the scene. The bus driver, a 59-year-old North Lakes man, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for mandatory testing.
Ten passengers on board the bus at the time of the crash were uninjured.
“This is a tragic incident, and our heart goes out to the man’s family and friends, the first responders and to all who witnessed this distressing scene late last night,” said Brisbane Lord Mayor, Adrian Schrinner.
“We don’t yet know the exact circumstances, but Council will work with the Queensland Police Service as they undertake a thorough investigation.”
