A man has appeared in Campbelltown Local Court charged with the alleged poisoning of his 66-year-old wife.
Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command commenced an investigation into reports of the alleged poisoning in September.
Police say the man’s wife became seriously ill after drinking tea which they will alleged in court was prepared by her husband. It’s believed the poisoning took place over a 12-month period.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Lanark Place, St Andrews, about 11.25am on Tuesday and arrested a 61-year-old man.
Police have also seized a bottle of Ant Rid insecticide, which contains the toxin borax, which has been sent for forensic examination.
The man was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with cause poison etc to be taken with intention to murder (DV), use poison etc so as to endanger life (DV), and use poison etc so as to inflict grievous bodily harm (DV).
He did not apply for bail and will face court again in December. His wife was treated in hospital following the alleged poisoning but has since been released into the care of relatives.
