Man charged over Warnbro hit-and-run

WA Police have charged a 35-year-old motorcycle rider following a hit-and-run crash in Warnbro a fortnight ago that has left a 78-year-old man seriously injured in hospital.

Police say that at around 3.20pm on November 3rd, the elderly man and his dog were crossing Currie Street near the intersection of Evans Street.

“As he was about to step onto the kerb on the opposite side of the road, it will be alleged he was struck by a motorcycle that was travelling south on Currie Street. It will be further alleged the motorcycle rider did not stop and render assistance but continued travelling along Currie Street,” WA Police said in a statement.

The 78-year-old man received serious lower leg injuries and he remains in hospital receiving treatment.

A 35-year-old man from Port Kennedy – who was a suspended driver – has been charged over the incident. He is due to appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court on November 21st.
