Man charged over pedestrian death

A driver has been charged over the death of a 52-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a ute in the state’s far west earlier this year.

Police say that at around 7am on Saturday, July 10, emergency services were called to Silver City Highway near Fletchers Lake Road at Dareton, after reports a Nissan Navara had struck a pedestrian.

“A 52-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene,” NSW Police said in a statement today.

“The driver, a 58-year-old man, was not injured and was taken to Wentworth Hospital for mandatory testing.

“Following an investigation, the man was charged with negligent driving (occasioning death).”

He was issued a court attendance notice to appear at Wentworth Local Court on January 11 next year.
