A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a 63-year-old man on a mobility scooter in Sydney’s CBD.
Police say that at about 5.40pm on Monday, police were told a man approached two men at the corner of George and Bathurst streets, Sydney, and asked for a cigarette.
One of the men, aged 63 and seated on a mobility scooter, asked the man to leave before the man punched him in the face.
Shortly after, officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attended and arrested a 53-year-old man.
He was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The Darlinghurst man was refused bail to appear in Central Local Court today.
The older man suffered a cut to the left side of his lower lip and was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.
