Man arrested following Hamlyn Heights stabbing

A 60-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing in Hamlyn Heights on Monday night.

It is understood two men were involved in a physical altercation in a Lantana Avenue property just before 8pm on Tuesday, 23 January, Victoria Police said in a statement.

“A 65-year-old man sustained stab wounds and was transported to hospital with serious injuries. A 60-year-old Hamlyn Heights man was arrested at the scene,” Police said.

The 60-year-old man did not sustain any injuries.

Police say they found and seized 12 cannabis plants inside the property during the arrest.

The Hamlyn Heights man is expected he will appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court today.

Police say they believe both men are known to each other.
