Man, 85, killed in mobility scooter crash

An 85-year-old man has died after his mobility scooter collided with a car at Upper Coomera yesterday afternoon.

Queensland Police say their initial investigations indicate that at around 1.40pm on Monday, a Hyundai Santa Fe and a mobility scooter were travelling north along Heathwood Drive when they collided.

“The rider of the mobility scooter, an 85-year-old Upper Coomera man, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries but passed away this morning,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The driver of the car, a 43-year-old man, was not physically injured. He returned a negative roadside breath test at the scene.”

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.
