Man, 71, killed in Tumbulgum crash

A crash investigation is underway after a 71-year-old man died following a single-vehicle accident at Tumbulgum yesterday.

NSW Police say that at around 12.45am yesterday, officers from Tweed-Byron Police District were called to Tweed Valley Way, Tumbulgum, after reports a car had collided with a wire road safety barrier system.

“The sole occupant of the vehicle, a 71-year-old man, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to The Tweed Hospital where he was declared deceased,” Police said in a statement.

“A crime scene was established which will be forensically examined by specialist police. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.”
