NSW Police have been charged a 61-year-old man after a 55-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times at Villawood on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to Alcoomie Street, Villawood at about 3pm following reports of a stabbing.
“Officers attached to the Bankstown Police Area Command attended and found a 55-year-old woman with stab wounds to her head, back and chest,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and was taken to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.”
A 61-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Westmead Hospital where he remained under police guard until he was charged yesterday with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).
He has been bail refused bail to appear via AVL in Parramatta Local Court today.
Police will allege in court the stabbing was domestic violence related.
