A 59-year-old man has been charged after allegedly conducting a burnout in his car in the Murray River region at the weekend.
Police say that just before 5.30pm on Sunday, officers attached to Murray River Highway Patrol were patrolling Union Road, Lavington, when they noticed a parked Chrysler 300 sedan.
“Police will allege the vehicle suddenly accelerated harshly, causing the rear wheels to lose traction and spin on the bitumen,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The driver’s action caused a significant amount of smoke over the roadway, blocking vision for other motorists.”
The driver was issued a Court Attendance Notice for aggravated burnout and is due to appear in Albury Local Court on November 15.
The Lavington man’s NSW driver’s licence was also suspended, and his vehicle seized until January 2022.
