A 59-year-old man has been charged over the Anzac Day assault of another man in Sydney’s Inner West.
Police say that at around 7pm yesterday, emergency services were called to a home on Gower Street, Summer Hill following reports of two men arguing.
“Officer from Burwood Police Area Command attended and located a 42-year-old man suffering injuries to his facial area following an alleged assault,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred hospital in a serious condition.”
A 59-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Burwood Police Station.
Police have been told the men are known to each other. The older man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today.
