Man, 53, charged with Ormeau arson

Queensland Police have charged a 53-year-old man in relation to a fire at an industrial business in Ormeau on Saturday.

Police say the man broke into to the building at around 9.40pm and damaged a number of electronic items and pieces of machinery inside.

“He then allegedly used an accelerant to light a fire at the address, before fleeing the scene,” police said in a statement.

“Emergency crews arrived shortly afterwards to contain the blaze and a crime scene was established while investigations were conducted.”

Police arrested the 53-year-old Yarrabilba man yesterday and charged him with enter premises with intent, wilful damage and arson.

Police bail was denied and he is expected to appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
