A 50-year-old man will appear in court today charged after allegedly assaulting an officer in Sydney’s Inner West.
Police say that at about 1.15pm yesterday, officers from Inner West Police Area Command Proactive Crime Team were patrolling when they noticed a man cross Missenden Road, Camperdown.
The men were stopped, before one of them – aged 50 – was searched.
During the search, police say the man became aggressive and verbally abusive, before headbutting a police constable.
He was taken to Newtown Police Station and, following a further search, police located a tin inside his underwear, allegedly containing bags with methylamphetamine and cannabis.
The Glebe man was charged with supply prohibited drug (between indictable and commercial quantity x2), resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty, assault police officer in execution of duty, possess prohibited drug and cross when pedestrian lights not green.
He was refused bail and appeared at Newtown Local Court today where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Thursday 3 September.
