Man, 40, arrested over theft of nurse’s car from hospital

A man has been arrested following the theft of a nurse’s car while she was working at a Fitzroy hospital, Victoria Police announced today.

It is alleged the man attended a hospital on Victoria Parade and stole a handbag containing the victim’s car keys from a staff area on December 21st last year.

“A short time later, it’s alleged the victim’s car was stolen from the staff carpark,” Police said today.

The car was later recovered by Police in Ballarat on Christmas Day.

“Officers from Fitzroy Uniform along with Ballarat Divisional Response Unit executed a warrant at a Newington address on 10 May. A man was located nearby and arrested.”

The 40-year-old Newington man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft and drive while disqualified.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 28 July.
