A 59-year-old man who was shot by police after allegedly threatening officers with a knife at Kingaroy earlier this month, has been charged with assault.
Police say they were called to Kingaroy Hospital at around 7.20pm on August 9th following reports of a man armed with a knife.
The man allegedly threatened officers with the knife and was subsequently shot by police.
“Medical assistance was immediately provided to the man before he was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast Hospital. The man remains in hospital undergoing further treatment,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“No police officers were physically injured during the incident.”
The 59-year-old Kingaroy man has been issued a notice to appear on one count of going armed to cause fear and three counts of serious assault police officer. He is due before Kingaroy Magistrates Court on October 18.
