Keysborough man, 68, charged with sex assaults dating back to 1996

Detectives from the Victoria Police Sexual Crimes Squad have charged a 68-year-old man as part of their investigation into reported sexual assaults dating back almost 30 years.

The Keysborough man was charged last night with sexual penetration of a child under 16 years and indecent act with a child under 16.

He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

The 13 charges relate to three complainants and are alleged to have occurred between 1996 and 2004.

Police will also allege the man came into contact with the complainants through his role at a Keysborough temple.

“Victoria Police encourages all victims of sexual assault and child abuse, and anyone who has knowledge of such a crime, to make a report,” Police said in a statement.

“Victoria Police is committed to investigating and bringing to justice those people who prey on children no matter how many years have passed.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppers.com.au
