The blokes from Jerilderie Men’s Shed in the Murrumbidgee Shire were recently presented with a Highly Commended award in the Sustainable Communities Tidy Towns Awards.
The award was received in recognition of the success of the ‘Blokes, bottles and bins’ project that sees the Men’s Shed members collect recyclable containers.
The men collect about 10,000 containers each month and have used the funds raised to make donations to help the community with things like flood, drought and hospital appeals.
Keep Australia Beautiful NSW (KAB) representative, Elliot Stephens, travelled to Jerilderie last week to officially present the local gents with their award.
