Investigation into theft of 50 motorbikes picks up speed

NSW Police have released CCTV footage and images of a man they wish to speak to as they investigate the theft of more than 50 motorcycles from a holding yard near Strathfield earlier this year.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command have been told a shipping container containing 52 Honda CRF250F motorcycles was taken to a holding yard in Strathfield South on July 19th, but the bikes were missing when it was checked on July 22nd.

The value of the motorcycles is approximately more than $500,000.

“Detectives have established Strike Force Goodhall to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“As inquiries continue, strike force detectives have released CCTV footage of two vehicles as part of their ongoing investigation.

“One is described as a red Holden Barina hatchback, and the other is a dark coloured utility towing a trailer. The hatchback also had a brighter left passenger-side headlight.”

Detectives have also released CCTV images of a man (pictured) who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his mid to late-20s, of a fair complexion, with brown eyes, a black beard and moustache.

Anyone who can identify this man, or who may have information which could assist investigators, is urged to contact Auburn Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
