Hunt for man who hit police horse with flagpole

Victorian Police is seeking public assistance to identify three men who struck police horses and damaged a police vehicle during a protest at The Shrine of Remembrance on Friday.

North West Metro Regional Crime Squad detectives are investigating animal cruelty, criminal damage and theft during the protest in Melbourne’s CBD.

Victoria Police has released images of the people they would like to speak to in relation to these incidents.

Police are seeking this man pictured right, in relation to animal cruelty after several police horses were hit in the face with a flagpole.

Police say the horses were not injured during the incident.

A second man, pictured below, is wanted in relation to criminal damage of a police vehicle.

A third man pictured right is also wanted in relation to the theft of a police hat.

“Victoria Police will continue to conduct proactive patrols and anyone who deliberately and blatantly breaches the Chief Health Officer’s (CHO) directions can expect a swift and strong police response,” the police force said in a statement.

“Victoria Police will not hesitate to fine those who clearly and blatantly breach the CHO directions.”
