An 87-year-old who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on the Central Coast in July has died in hospital.
Police say that at about 8.25am on July 4, emergency services were called to Blackwall Road in Woy Woy, following reports an elderly pedestrian had been hit by a white Toyota Corolla.
The driver of the Corolla left the scene of the crash.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 87-year-old at the scene for suspected leg and hip fractures before being taken to Gosford Hospital.
Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command established a crime scene that was examined by members of the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 91-year-old man at Gosford Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm), and not give way to pedestrian on crossing-motor vehicle.
The Koolewong man is next due to appear in Gosford Local Court on November 19.
At 6.20pm yesterday, police were informed that the 87-year-old hit-and-run victim had died in hospital.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
