Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a missing 68-year-old intellectually disabled Footscray man.
The man, identified only as John by police, was last seen outside the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville when witnesses say he went outside for a cigarette at 1.18pm on Tuesday.
“CCTV shows John walking down Grattan Street at the Flemington Road intersection with a walker,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
“John was taken to hospital the day prior where he had a moonboot on his left leg for a broken ankle.”
Police have concerns for John’s welfare as he has an intellectual disability and a number of medical conditions that require regular treatment.
John is about 165cm tall with a thin/medium build, blue eyes, short grey hair and grey trimmed beard. He was last seen wearing brown pants and black velcro shoes. John is known to frequent the Footscray and Melbourne CBD areas.
“Police have released an image of John in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information regarding his current whereabouts.”
Anyone with information about John is urged to contact Footscray Police Station on 8398 9800.
