Queensland Police detectives have charged a 13-year-old girl and 19-year-old man with attempted murder following the alleged stabbing of a 57-year-old security guard at Helensvale this morning.
Police say that at around 7.45am, officers were called to a Millaroo Drive shopping centre following reports of a disturbance during which a male security guard working at the centre sustained a number of stab wounds.
Those involved fled the scene in a stolen black Holden Trax, Police said.
Officers tracked the vehicle, which was intercepted by police at Distillery Road at Beenleigh around 8.35am with four people taken into custody.
“The security guard has been transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition where he remains,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“It will be further alleged the Holden Trax was stolen on August 24 after three males assaulted a woman and stole her keys in a business carpark on Mount Warren Boulevard at Mount Warren.”
A 19-year-old Oxenford man has been charged with on count each of attempted murder, robbery with violence, attempt to enter premises and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, August 26.
A 13-year-old Upper Coomera girl has been charged with attempted murder and will appear at Southport Childrens Court tomorrow.
Further suspects are expected to be charged over the coming days, Queensland Police said.
