Police have charged a 12-year-old girl in relation to ongoing investigations into three alleged stolen cars in Mount Isa this morning.
Queensland Police say that shortly after midnight, several youths gained entry to a business on Camooweal Street, where they allegedly stole three cars – a white Kia Sportage and two white Toyota Prado vehicles.
“Police monitored the vehicles’ movements and successfully deployed a tyre deflation device on one of the Prados around 4.15am, before it came to a stop along Kingfisher Road,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“The occupants exited that vehicle, jumping into the second Prado and fleeing. Â
“At approximately 7.50am, patrolling police located the Kia on Kookaburra Street taking the two occupants, girls aged 12, into custody.”
A 12-year-old Kelso girl has been charged with one count each of enter premise and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving of motor vehicle without a licence. She was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Mount Isa Children’s Court.
The second girl was transported home with investigations continuing, Police said.
The second Prado, a white 2020 4WD with Queensland registration QGRE05, remains outstanding.
Any witnesses or anyone with information about the vehicle is urged to contact police.
