Five teens charged over Hawthorn East home invasion

Victoria Police have charged five teenagers following a home invasion in Hawthorn East.

Police were first called out to Hawthorn East following reports of a home invasion in Tower Place sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

“It’s alleged that five intruders gained entry to a house and stole a 2019 Mercedes GLC350 wagon along with a range of other personal items,” Southern Metro Region Crime Squad said in a statement.

“Investigators acted swiftly, arresting five teenagers on the Princess Highway, Pakenham, about 10.45am.”

The allegedly stolen vehicle was recovered in the Springvale area later in the morning.

A 13-year-old Seaford boy, a 15-year-old Springvale South boy, a 15-year-old Cranbourne North boy, a 13-year-old Doveton boy and a 16-year-old Pakenham boy have all been charged with home invasion, theft of a motor vehicle, theft and bail offences.

They will face a children’s court at a later date.
