NSW Police are appealing for public assistance following a home invasion in the state’s west at the weekend in which a couple in their 80s were threatened with secateurs.
Officers have been told about 3.30am on Saturday, the occupants of a home on Tamworth Street in Dubbo – an 85-year-old man and 84-year-old woman – woke to a noise inside their home.
“They found two unknown males searching the house, before they threatened the occupants with secateurs,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The elderly couple were detained by the men, who demanded firearms, before fleeing with cash and the occupant’s vehicle – a Ford Fairlane – which has been located.
“No injuries were reported from the incident.”
Both men are described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance and were both wearing dark hooded jumper/jackets, face masks and gloves
Anyone who may have information or noticed any suspicious activity are urged to contact Dubbo Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
