Drunk driver caught twice after switching cars

Police in Wodonga were shocked after intercepting the same drink driver twice last night as he switched cars in an attempt to evade detection a second time.

Victoria Police said a 46-year-old man was driving a Holden Rodeo when he was intercepted by police on Lawrence Street, Wodonga just before 9.10pm.

“The driver returned a positive breath test and was conveyed to Wodonga Police station where he returned a reading of 0.192.”

His licence was immediately suspended, and keys retained by police with the driver to face court at a later date.

“Just after 11.40pm, the same driver was intercepted on Melbourne Road, this time in a Mazda CX9 with a 10-year-old female passenger on board,” Victoria Police said.

“Arrangements were made for the child to be collected prior to the driver again accompanying police to Wodonga Police Station where he returned a result of 0.146.

“The CX9 was impounded at a cost of $1115 and the man will be charged with a second drink driving offence as well as drive while suspended.”
