Queensland Police have located ‘Phoenix’ the border collie safe and well after the much-loved pup was stolen during a violent robbery incident at Kelso yesterday.
“Police and the family would like to thank the community for their assistance, which greatly helped officers locate Phoenix,” Queensland Police said in a statement released this evening.
Initial investigations indicate that at around 4pm on Thursday, a male and female allegedly assaulted a woman and a girl before stealing their vehicle, with Phoenix in the back seat.
The victims of the alleged assault – a 43-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl – were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
Following investigations, police located and arrested a 28-year-old Oonoonba woman and a 29-year-old Rasmussen man at Rasmussen today.
The pair remain in police custody and are expected to be charged with multiple offences.
Officers said Phoenix was being reunited with family tonight.
