Dog park funding unleashed for Yarra

Yarra City Council has welcomed funding from the Victorian Government for the enhancement of local dog parks.

As part of the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program, $600,000 will be awarded to develop green open space for the Yarra City local government area.

This funding will allow for significant improvements at two popular Yarra sites: Smith Reserve in Fitzroy and Quarries Park in Clifton Hill, with each location receiving $300,000.

The planned upgrades will include tree planting, new paths, and enhanced off-leash areas for dogs.

Mayor, Edward Crossland said the projects will provide safe, engaging and accessible green spaces for residents and their canine companions to enjoy together.

“We are grateful for the Victorian Government’s funding, which allows Yarra to enhance our parks by providing residents with improved facilities for exercising, relaxing, and enjoying the outdoors with their dogs,” he said.
