The Victorian Health Building Authority has released its designs for the proposed new $41.1 million aged care facility in Cohuna.
The new 24-bed facility will be dementia-friendly, and will be co-located at and operated by Cohuna District Hospital.
The designs reveal a modern and spacious facility. Residents will have single bedrooms with private ensuites. The facility’s fit-outs have been designed to provide with a modern, safe and comfortable place to call home. The facility will also provide a safe and efficient workplace for staff, the Authority said in a statement.
The design will provide 16 aged care beds and eight acute beds. There will also be larger spaces and functional rooms to support improved mobility and care for residents.
The project forms part of the Regional and Rural Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy.
“This will modernise ageing facilties which are home to some of our most vulnerable older Victorians,” said the Authority.
Early works are expected to begin in late 2024. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
