Bushland search launched for missing 71-year-old

Queensland Police have commenced a search of bushland in West Mackay today as part of their ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a local 71-year-old man.

Wayne Pedro Morseu (pictured) was first reported missing to police on 10 November.

Investigations have led detectives to believe his disappearance is suspicious, Queensland Police said in a statement today.

“Specialist police and State Emergency Services have been involved in land searches of the bushland area around West Mackay but have not yet located any items of interest,” Police said.

“Currently, no one is in custody in relation to this investigation however police continue to speak to people who know Wayne.

“Police and family hold significant concerns for his welfare as he has not contacted anyone since his disappearance.”

Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts or information about Wayne is urged to contact police immediately.

Mr Morseu is described as First Nations, with a slim build, grey hair and brown eyes.
