Victoria Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the tragic discovery of the body of a man in the Murray River near Mildura this morning.
Officers from NSW Police and Victoria Police were called to the river near Apex Park shortly after 9.30am.
Although the body is yet to be formally identified, police believe it to be that of 94-year-old Joseph McRann (pictured), who was last seen in Mildura on 20 June.
“Victoria Police would like to thank members of the local community and the NSW Police Force who assisted with the search,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
A search and rescue operation was launched on the Murray River near Mildura Weir’s Lock 11 for Mr McCrann last week, with SES supporting police divers in the search.
Mr McCrann’s mobility scooter had earlier been discovered next to a walking track on Hugh King Drive at the Mildura riverfront on the day he went missing.
