The search for a missing fisherman has ended tragically with Queensland Police locating the body of a 63-year-old Bentley Park man in Kinchant Dam this morning.
“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
Specialist search and rescue divers from Brisbane had been called in to help search for the missing man earlier this week.
The 63-year-old man was reported missing after he fell out of a three-metre tinnie while fishing on the dam.
He had been staying at the Kinchant Dam campsite, about 30 kilometres southwest of Mackay, with his wife when he was reported missing.
