Arcare Aged Care pretty in pink for Mother’s Day

Arcare residents and team members around Australia celebrated Mother’s Day with a touch of pink, a dose of pampering and a sprinkling of motherly advice.

The Lifestyle team at Arcare Balnarring in Victoria surprised the residents with mini potted succulents and poems for them to enjoy.

83-year-old resident, Wendy, shared her motherly wisdom with us saying, “Before becoming a parent, you have to be prepared to give your whole life to your child. They are individuals and will ask you questions you may not know, but you just do your best.”

Meanwhile, Victoria’s Arcare Brighton community held a pamper day for team members which included a lovely spread of nibbles and drinks. Residents at Arcare Keysborough and Arcare Maidstone in Victoria, along with Arcare Mollymook NSW were presented with Mother’s Day gifts.

Resident at Arcare Oatlands in Sydney were treated to a live performance of ‘Singin in the Rain’ by the local Berowra Theatre Company, ahead of Mother’s Day.

In Queensland, Arcare Parkinson residents enjoyed a pink-themed morning tea complete with live music and pink cupcakes.

When asked about what it means to be a mother, 89-year-old resident Gloria shared, “Being a mother changes your life. Watching my son grow up has been my greatest joy and now I even have a grandson; I’m very proud of them both.”

Residents also received gifts that were thoughtfully put together by the local Bright Start kindergarten as part of their Adopt a Grandparent program.

“Our aim is to celebrate this day and to bring joy, love and a sense of community and belonging through our gifts,” Kelly, Founder of Adopt a Grandparent said.

“It’s a really great opportunity for our residents to maintain these intergenerational connections and knowing that these gifts were made for them means a lot,” Jodie, Lifestyle Coordinator at Arcare Parkinson said.

Arcare Point Lonsdale in Victoria celebrated the day with champagne and high tea as they had reflected on their journey as mothers and grandmothers.

Residents at Arcare Sanctuary Manors QLD enjoyed an Elvis Presley concert, along with rainbow-coloured cupcakes in the shape of a high heel.

“It means everything in the world to me to be a mother; I love my children and I’m very lucky to have good-natured children… It’s important to always be there for each other,” Margaret, a 100-year-old resident at Arcare Sanctuary Manors shared.

Arcare Templestowe in Victoria and Arcare Seven Hills in Queensland organised a Mother’s Day High Tea, while Seven Hills also held a pamper session complete with massages, facials and manicures by the Lifestyle team.
