Appeal for witnesses to shocking road rage incident

Queensland Police are appealing for dash-camera footage as part of the investigation into a road-rage incident that occurred at Oxenford last month.

Police say that at around 9.30am on Thursday December 19th, 2024, a white Hyundai Elantra Sedan, believed to be a 2024 model, was travelling northbound along the Pacific Motorway at Nerang.

A silver Isuzu D-Max dual-cab utility, containing a 52-year-old male-driver and his 20-year-old son, entered the Motorway from the Nerang Hill on-ramp and entered the right-hand lane of the Motorway.

“The Hyundai overtook the Isuzu and the sedan-driver yelled at the 52-year-old to exit the right-land lane due to his slow speed. The Hyundai then tailgated the Isuzu, before overtaking the utility and breaking suddenly,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“Around 9.50am, both vehicles exited the Motorway and pulled over at the corner of Roadshow Way and Entertainment Drive, Oxenford, where the two drivers exited their vehicles.

“The Hyundai driver then quickly re-entered his vehicle and accelerated towards the 52-year-old, colliding with the man causing him to go over the bonnet, before driving away.”

The man’s son drove his father home, where they called for an ambulance. The 52-year-old suffered a fractured wrist and broken knee as a result of the collision and continues to undergo further treatment.

The matter was reported to police on January 6th. Police are now appealing to the public for dash-camera footage of a white Hyundai Elantra sedan in the vicinity of the Nerang Hill on-ramp, northbound lanes of the Pacific Motorway from the on-ramp to Exit 60, and the corner of Roadshow Way and Entertainment Drive, Oxenford, between 9:30am and 10am on Thursday December 19th, 2024.
