Takeaway alcohol on menu for July

ACT hospitality venues will get a boost this month with many doing it tougher than usual this winter as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Canberra on-licence venues will be able to sell takeaway alcohol and offer it for home delivery from today until the end of July.

Minister for Business and Better Regulation, Tara Cheyne said the ACT Government was continuing to look for ways to support our businesses during this quieter than normal period.

“Canberrans are reminded that this is a great time to support the local businesses that support us,” said Minister Cheyne.

“Money you spend in local businesses goes back into the community and supports local jobs.”

This initiative was used in 2020 to enable businesses to diversify their offerings and services, with over 200 permits being issued to on-licence venues for a limited time. This year it will be available to all on-licence venues until 31 July.

Access Canberra and the Business Liaison Team are working directly with businesses who are looking to take advantage of this offer.
