52-year-old facing drug trafficking charges

A 52-year-old Clinton man has been charged with drugs and weapons offences after Queensland Police yesterday seized over $75,000 in cash along with a firearm, drugs and a boat.

Police allege the man threw a small black bag onto the roof of a nearby building in Ballentine Street when approached by officers.

Officers chased the 52-year-old and located him a short time later. A search of his bag revealed 68 grams of methylamphetamin and a pen gun. The man was also carrying $6,065 in cash.

Around 9.30am police executed a search warrant at a Hansen Street in Clinton address and located $48,550 in cash and a small vial of human growth hormone.

Later the same morning, officers executed a second search warrant at a Calliope River Road at West Stowe residence. Police located clips seal bags containing 50 grams of methylamphetamine, $21,500 in cash, scales, seven glass pipes and a boat.

The man is now facing 15 charges including one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs, four counts of possession of a dangerous drug (methylamphetamine, LSD and methylenedioxymethamphetamine), two counts of possession of property obtained from trafficking (cash) and one count each of possession of explosives (ammunition), possession of restricted drug (human growth hormone), and possession of category A weapon.

A 46-year-old West Stowe woman has also been charged with four counts of possession of dangerous drug (methylamphetamine, lysergic acid, oxycodone), three counts of possession of a restricted drug (modafinil, tramadol and pregabalin), two counts of possession of property suspected of been proceeds of a drug offence (cash), three counts of possession of utensil and one count of possession of property obtained from trafficking (boat).

Both were due to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court today.
