44 nurses join Launceston Hospital

Forty-four new graduate nurses will begin their careers at the Launceston General Hospital this week.

Minister for Health, Sarah Courtney said this year there would be an increased number of graduate nurses working within operating theatres.

“Which will be a huge boost for Tasmania’s training in this crucial area and help to secure our future workforce,” said Ms Courtney.

“These graduate nursing positions are provided with additional support, tailored to suit the transition into their new role and help them develop their professional skills,” she said.

“This program is incredibly important within our health system because it is providing opportunities for new graduates, who are the next generation of our health workforce.”

The Tasmanian Government has provided additional graduate nurse positions every year since 2014, the Minister said.

“And we look forward to welcoming further rounds of this program commencing later in the year.”
